We took Zachary out to eat for his birthday dinner before I left town. He picked a Mexican restaurant – we had a great time! And he got wished a very Happy Birthday by the waiters!!

San Jose, Take 2
Yep, I went back to San Jose at the end of December for another week of travel. This was a hard decision for us to make too since I had to miss the week of Christmas, but it was the better decision. Plus, the boys understood that we talked to Santa and that Santa was visiting all of the children of the nurses that had to go away and work on Saturday night instead of Thursday night that week. It wasn’t ideal but it worked out for the better. And to this day all the boys remember is that they had a GREAT Christmas!
I did enjoy my time though – visited Santana Row, shopped at a HUGE mall, bought some sexy-hot shoes, found my dream car, etc. But the best part of my trip was the little girl that I helped to take care of that week. She came in two nights before Christmas to the ICU and we intubated her almost immediately due to respiratory failure for RSV. Her family was so sweet and scared and we bonded instantly!! They said it was my accent that did it for them! LOL. Needless to stay, we have stayed in touch since I left and little Ali is doing great! I still get emails from them and I am still referred to as their “Favorite Country Nurse!” They also left me the sweetest gift in my bag that I found on the airplane on the way home. At least I got to play somewhat of a “Mom” role while I was gone over the holidays! Thanks to God for working that week out for us.
Happy “8” Zachary!!
Eight years old? EIGHT YEARS OLD?!?! How is that even possible? Zachary is turning out to be such a wonderful Christian young man. Nathan and I are so proud of him and we are amazed at him daily! He remains the top student in his class, continues to be a great athlete, is a wonderful big brother and we wouldn’t change a thing about him! Eli and Tyler love their big brother and usually can’t wait for him to get done with school for the day. I thank God daily for giving me my three little boys to raise and take care of – I truly am blessed.
Christmas Caroling
Another successful year of Christmas Caroling!!! We love this family/church tradition! And this year, we not only visited some of the elderly in the church, but we also visited the local fire station. And of course of boys loved that!!
Christmas Date Night
Nathan did really good with our Christmas date this year!! He planned a night out – a serious one too! We had dinner at The Palm restaurant downtown and then headed to the Nashville Symphony for Handles Messiah! It was wonderful and we had a great night out just the two of us. As a plus, Nathan always looks amazing all dressed up….no one can argue with that! We didn’t get too many pictures because apparently that’s not allowed – but I did get to sneak in a few!
We Make Santa Look Good: 2012
I always brag about how good our boys do with their Santa pictures. This year, we didn’t think we were gonna make it! Right when I put Tyler in Santa’s lap, he lost it. Crying, reaching, etc. The typical toddler Santa picture that we’ve always been able to avoid! The pictures were horrible. Then I switched Tyler and Eli, put Tyler with Zachary and Eli on Santa – one, two, three…say cheese! SCORE!
School Parties: Zachary Christmas
Its hard to believe that Zachary’s Christmas party is already done for his 2nd grade class. I feel like his years in school are flying by and he’s only 7! Needless to say, he had a great one. It’s nice that all these kids he’s grown up with since his 3 year old class in preschool. Merry Christmas to all our little ones!
School Parties: Eli at Preschool
Eli’s party and Zachary’s party for Christmas were both on the same day. (This tends to happen a lot!) Eli’s was first up and was a success while we made birthday cupcakes for Jesus, partied with friends, ate tons of food and shared gifts. He is loving preschool, adores his teacher and Nathan and I are so proud of our little E! Tyler is loving all the parties because he gets to eat and eat and eat!
School Parties: Zachary Birthday
One of the great things about this time of year is how busy everything is! With school parties, holiday activities and eight birthdays in this month – we stay hopping! One of the three school parties for the month of December was for Zachary’s birthday. That morning was horrible – and I wasn’t sure I was gonna make it. First, Eli locked Tyler in the car. Then Eli and Tyler locked us out of the house. Then, Eli kicked Zachary’s cupcakes out of the car and only one ended up having the actual white “W” on it for Zachary’s purple tiger theme. Ugh. I had about had it by the time I got to school, and then I dropped the drinks in the parking lot. Needless to say, I had a good cry – a hard laugh – and then pushed on. Zachary had a great day and that’s what its all about. And the cupcakes tasted great – smeared icing and all!

Maybe our politicians should take a lesson from my
seven year old. Care...Give...Pray.
Tyler thought he'd be like his daddy and shave one morning. Lord....help me to keep my boys alive. It never ceases to amaze me at
what they get in to!!!
