Christmas Eve Traditions & Santa's Visit

Christmas Eve is always a fun time at our house as we try to maintain Christmas traditions with the magic of Santa, all while keeping focus on the real reason for this holiday - Jesus' birth.  As you can tell from the first picture, Tyler tuckered our pretty early that night and so he went on to bed.  And then traditions started...
First we read The Night Before Christmas and actually Zachary read it to everyone this year.  Then, Nathan read the Christmas story from the Bible and we talked about it for a while.  Next was on to laying out the cookies and milk -- this year it was cinnamon/honey wafers -- and then off to bed.

Now, one might look at these pictures and think that Santa goes overboard at our house -- and that may be true.  But I know from experience that when growing up in a large family, it is rare that you get to feel special as an individual.  So we use Christmas and their birthdays to dote on our children.  And we all love every minute of it!  Merry Christmas!
