Friday night was another night of high fevers and no sleep. So on Saturday, we decided Tyler was too sick for either one of us to take off and we had to stay back while Mom and Dad went to the graduation. Nathan decided to take the boys to the beach and since Tyler was hanging in there (and was 24hrs post shot) I figured we'd attempt to go with them. However, after about twenty minutes in the sun, Tyler had broken out in a horrible rash and became almost uncontrollable with his crying. So I took him back to the condo and put him down for his nap. Nathan stayed with the boys for while longer and made it back to the condo about the time that Tyler was getting up from his nap. When he woke up, I knew immediately that we were headed to the closest Emergency Room. He looked horrible and had a crazy high fever again. So after a quick outfit change for the boys and two paramedics looking Tyler over, we all headed to the ER. After almost four hours in the ER, it was decided that Tyler also had two ear infections, the start of Scarlet Fever and a possible allergic reaction to the antibiotics. So we were given two more prescriptions to fill and sent on our way...only after I had to talk them out of trying to admit Tyler. After convincing them that I was a pediatric critical care nurse on top of being a competent mother and after a phone call with our pediatrician in TN who told them that Tyler was better off with me at home, we were discharged.
Once we got his prescription filled, Eli started crying from the back seat...and yep, 102.1!! Yes, I said Eli! Now I have two kiddos that are sick while on vacation. I called our pediatrician back and we started Eli on antibiotics too in order to get us back home.
Okay -- so that was our horrible Saturday! :) Now for the pictures of the good twenty minutes that we did have that day!!
