Today when I was going through some of the pictures on the computer, I came across these pictures of Nathan and I just had to post them! Six and a half years ago, on August 3rd - we had a party at my parent's house to paint the outside decks for our wedding the following Saturday. All of Nathan's buds from college came out, the groomsmen and the ushers (all 16 of them) along with my bridesmaids (three of which were sisters!) and we all got to painting. Well, Nathan and I were on the second floor deck talking to my parents when a wasp flew right at me. Now if you know me well at all, you know that I have a complete phobia of wasps -- in fact, most people think I'm crazy because in the spring/summer months, I carry wasp spray in my purse. Crazy I know -- but that's just me... So anyway - back to the story. This wasp, which was the biggest wasp ever, flew right up in my face -- so I did what any normal person would do -- I ducked down! The next thing I know - Nate was standing there holding his eyelid. The wasp, aiming for me, ended up hitting Nathan right in the eye!! It started to swell some so we gave him some Benadryl and sent him to the den with a bag of ice. An hour later - I went to check on him and he was no longer my beautiful fiancee -- but rather, a replica of the Hunchback of Notre Dame!! We gave it a couple more hours but the swelling continued to get worse and so Nathan and I headed to the ER. These pics I found were after Nathan had gotten a steroid shot along with a Benadryl shot. In fact, if I remember correctly, I took these pics the next morning...almost 24hrs after the initial sting -- so you can imagine how much worse he had looked! He's gonna kill me for posting these pics -- and at the time it was rather scary - but now it is a great memory! Or at least I think so!
